Helping Men Get Help – the integral approach to helping men and boys get better outcomes

Special Evening Talk by Glen Poole from the UK

Tuesday October 29 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm
The Ruby Room, 1st Floor
The Castlereagh Club 199 Castlereagh Street Sydney

Why are men all over the world less likely to access a wide range of support service from doctors to counsellors, from dentists to suicide help lines?

Glen Poole of the UK-based consultancy Helping Men, is on a mission to spread awareness and understanding of the barriers men and boys face and give more professionals the skills and knowledge they need to help men and boys overcome these barriers and access help and support services.

Glen is a committed advocate for men and boys and combines the passion of a seasoned campaigner, the wisdom of a strategic advisor and the pragmatism of an experienced frontline men’s worker to deliver a unique and refreshing approach to Helping Men.

Glen is a former PR Director of the controversial campaign group Fathers 4 Justice; has helped establish several men’s social projects; co-ordinates International Men’s Day in the UK; hosts the UK’s National Conference for Men and Boys and is regularly consulted by government departments, political tanks and the national media on men’s issues.

Glen is a Keynote Speaker at the 2013 National Men’s Health Gathering.

In this talk he provides a short introduction to Integral Gender Theory and outlines how it can be applied to deliver better outcomes for men and boys in areas like health, mental health, education, criminal justice and family life.
